Every GuateImmersion program is tailor-made in collaboration with you, ensuring the itinerary reflects your group’s learning objectives, academic themes, and goals. We work fully with trusted local partners to ensure responsible, respectful engagement at every step to create a program that’s thoughtfully curated, supportive, and full of learning, connection, and discovery.

Below you’ll find three sample programs to spark ideas—click on each title and picture for more details.

Our programs are grounded in deep community connection and designed to be immersive and educational. Rather than simply observing, participants engage directly with local communities, learning from the people and places that make Guatemala so unique. Whether through community visits, family stays, or hands-on workshops, every activity is an opportunity to build meaningful relationships and gain new perspectives.

What to Expect

From the moment your group lands in Guatemala to the moment you head home, we take care of everything. Our team is committed to providing a seamless, enriching, and safe experience. Program Leaders meet your group at the airport and remain with you throughout the entire journey. They are your go-to people—coordinators, translators, and trusted companions—ensuring that everything runs smoothly day to day.

Each day includes a mix of structured programming and time for reflection. You can expect:

  • Meaningful engagement with community organizations, initiatives, and projects,
  • Interactive sessions led by local experts and leaders,
  • Opportunities to participate in service or learning projects,
  • Group discussions to reflect on your experiences.

Health & Safety

The well-being of our participants is our top priority; we take a proactive, informed approach to ensure every participant’s safety throughout their experience. We have thorough protocols in place and our Program Leaders are trained to handle health issues or emergencies with care and professionalism

Local Expertise & Ongoing Monitoring

Our program leaders and staff live full-time in Guatemala, allowing us to stay consistently informed of local conditions. We regularly monitor updates and briefings from INGUAT (Guatemala’s tourism authority), relevant embassies, and local partners to respond quickly and appropriately to changing circumstances.

First Aid Preparedness

All program leaders are trained in first aid, and each group is equipped with a fully stocked medical kit at all times. We’re prepared to respond to minor injuries or health concerns immediately and professionally, based on experience and training.

Food & Water Safety

We understand that food and water safety are key to a healthy travel experience. All restaurants are vetted in advance, and our homestay families receive training on safe food handling and hygiene. Purified drinking water is available at all times during the program, both in transit and on-site.

Emergency Response & Risk Mitigation

Each site we visit has tailored risk mitigation strategies and emergency response plans, developed in coordination with local partners. From natural events to logistical disruptions, we’re ready with contingency plans to keep you safe and supported.

All participants are required to carry medical travel insurance. In the event of a medical emergency, this ensures that high-quality care is accessible without delay or concern over costs.
