Testimonials

I had the pleasure and fortune of travelling with a group of college faculty to Guatemala in 2024 which was led by Magdony and Pete. I have been organizing short term abroad experiences for groups of students and staff at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada since about 2010. Magdony and Pete’s leadership was phenomenal. As a group, we felt complete confidence in both of them in terms of safety, knowledge, and attention to detail. They were adaptable to our group when issues arose and took care of people with great care and empathy. Their translation skills were excellent, and we always felt that we were receiving the most accurate accounts of the people we met in Guatemala. It was apparent that they were both very familiar with the areas we travelled to across the country. Magdony, being born in raised in the area, was able to share a unique and important perspective both as a woman and a local. Pete, having lived in Guatemala for a numbers of years also shared a wonderful perspective. They are both kind, empathetic, and compassionate people who made our experience top-tier. I would highly recommend them as leads for an educational and transformative travel experience.

Magdony was an amazing leader. Not only did she take the time to get to know each of the members on the trip personally, she handled difficult and unforeseen situations with calmness, professionalism, and creativity. I gained so much respect for her throughout the trip not only as a friend but as a travel professional, and she was the reason I had so much fun and learned so much.

Magdony is an incredible trip leader! Not only is she knowledgeable and supportive, but she exhibited genuine care and interest for me and my group on our travels. She led us on adventures throughout the beautiful city and landscapes, sharing local tips and insights, as well as joining us for a meal or a random dance party. With Magdony, you will not only enjoy a great time, but you will also make a new friend.

I had the pleasure of having Pete as a group guide and it was beyond any expectation I had. The trip was well planned, we ate well, we had incredibly authentic local experiences and got a sense of the social fabric and culture of the places we explored. I would gladly recommend anyone I know to venture out with Pete, as I know they'll be in good hands and have not just good picture, but great stories to tell when they come back.

Magdony led our Spring Break in Guatemala City and Antigua. From the moment we arrived in Guatemala City, Magdony was extremely helpful and friendly. She had transportation waiting for us and had even arranged dinner for us after a long day of travel. During our trip, we visited and fixed medical equipment at 3 different hospitals and stayed in two different cities. Magdony arranged our hotel accommodations, transportation, snacks, meals, and cultural activities. She was always available and consistently checked on our students to make sure everyone was doing okay and was healthy. She made our trip to Guatemala great! Thanks Magdony!

For Café La Nariz, it has been a pleasure to work with Pete. He is a very attentive, thoughtful, and kind person who understands the Indigenous culture of Guatemala and its people very well. We love how he involves and coordinates people and organizations within his project. Working with Pete is synonymous with organization, care, understanding, and above all, total immersion. We highly recommend joining a program with Pete — we’re sure you’ll be more than satisfied.
